Excessive Tearing
Excessive tearing (epiphora) can occur for one of two reasons:
Dry Eye (Reflexive Tearing)
When your eyes are dry and tears evaporate too quickly, your body may overcompensate and produce tears, called reflexive tears. These are watery tears, which differ from health basal tears that keep your eyes from drying out.
Blocked Tear Duct
If your tear duct becomes clogged, your eyes will water and sometimes this can be constant or intermittent depending on the blockage. Your doctor will evaluate whether the blockage needs surgical intervention
